I absolutely love Mexican food, or I should say I absolutely love fajitas. There is this wonderful Mexican restaurant in Portland, that from the outside might look like a “chain” restaurant, but is far from it. If you have not been to Acapulco’s at all or even recently, I say to you, “¡correr rapido!” (run fast) to enjoy the yummy-goodness that is Acapulco’s!
My favorite dish is the steak fajitas. They come out sizzling on a cast-iron skillet and have the most amazing flavor. Not to worry, the rest of their menu is wonderful as well, I just love the fajitas. Their portions are grande (large), but this just means that you will have left overs for breakfast the next day!
On Sundays they offer an all-you-can-eat champagne brunch, which while I don’t think it does their kitchen justice, isn’t bad. There is a good mix of Mexican favorites, as well as an omelet station and a waffle station. My favorite part of the brunch is their strawberry juice – it’s fantastic!
Monthly Acapulco’s offers a Tequila 101 class, which includes dinner, and 3 – 4 shots of the various types/brands of tequila that is being discussed. I haven’t taken part of this event, but my friends rave about it. Evidently, it comes highly recommended!
The service is fantastic and practically everyone who works there is from Mexico. If you speak a little spanish to them, they will readily engage you back.
Acapulco’s is located just East of Mall 205 on the corner of SE Washington St. and SE 106th Avenue. This is truly a restaurant that can’t be passed by!
