1st restaurant review…Mother’s Bistro and Bar

One of my favorite things is to find fun, funky, locally owned restaurants and share them with friends and family.  (I have to credit my friend JAM for introducing me to all the wonderful restaurants in Portland.)  I typically get to share my wonderful finds with my father during our bi-weekly dinner nights.  He has been dreaming of me starting my very own restaurant review website, and so now I find a place on my blog to do so.  Check in every-other Friday (or when I get around to writing the reviews) to see what fun, funky and locally owned restaurant dinner night took place at.  My first review will fall some what out of order.  My birthday (as everyone should know, of course) was on 11/9 and my Cody took me out to a wonderful dinner shared with good friends.  We ate at my favorite restaurant: Mother’s Bistro and Bar.  For those of you who haven’t been there yet, “What are you waiting for?!?”  Don’t walk, RUN to this little slice of heaven in downtown Portland.  They recently remodeled and expanded the size of the restaurant making it able to accommodate more hungry folks.  Mother’s has a charm all to it’s self.  The dinning room is lit with fabulous grand chandeliers adding a warm ambiance to the room.  The menu is fantastic!  It is filled with a great new spin on traditional “comfort food” items such as: chicken dumplings, grilled pork medallions (yum!), mac-and-cheese of the day (such a great idea), and my personal favorite, meatloaf & mashed potatoes (to die for!).  During lunch the meatloaf is served as a sandwich along with their yummy homemade shoestring fries (it just doesn’t get any better).  On the weekends brunch is also served, which is not to be missed either.  As my father knows well, I often choose restaurants based on the dessert menu and Mother’s does not disappoint in this area either.  All the desserts are homemade and made from scratch, including their fantastic chocolate cake & brownie of the day.  An added touch I love is that instead of a standard mint with the check, Mother’s checks comes with mini cookies for everyone at the table.  Could it get any better?  So, for those of you looking to mix it up this weekend and try something different, check out Mother’s Bistro & Bar.  Located at: 212 SW Stark Street.  For more information, check out: www.mothersbistro.com

Rating: 5 of 5 yummy goodness!
